How Are Pests Getting Into My House?

In Tampa Bay and surrounding areas, homes are susceptible to a variety of pests due to our unique climate. Pests can enter your house through several avenues:

Cracks and gaps in the foundation, walls, or roof.

Unsealed windows and doors: Even the tiniest gap can invite pests in.

Ventilation systems: These can act as highways for smaller pests.

Drainage and pipes: Many pests thrive in moist environments, making drains a common entry point.

Brought inside inadvertently: Sometimes pests hitch a ride on plants, groceries, or other items brought into your home.

Regular inspections and sealing potential entry points can significantly reduce the likelihood of pests entering your Tampa Bay residence. Our professional pest control services can identify these vulnerabilities and offer solutions to keep your home pest-free.

Is Preventative Pest Control Necessary for My Home & Business?

The primary advantage of preventative pest control services is their effectiveness in thwarting pest infestations. By treating your home or business, you can deter pests, safeguarding both the interior and exterior of your home. Ultimately, it stands as the most efficient method to prevent future challenges caused by pests.

How Quickly can a technician get to my house?

If you call before noon, Anti-pesto offers same-day service. If you call after noon, our office will set up an appointment as soon as possible!

Will the Rain Wash Away My Pest Control?

Rain can impact the efficacy of pest control treatments, but the extent of its effect largely depends on the type of treatment, how it’s applied, and the timing of the rain after application.

Liquid Pest Control Sprays: Once the treatment has dried, a light rain typically won’t wash it away.

Granular Pesticides: These are designed to be water-resistant and often need moisture to activate. Rain can help dissolve and distribute granules into the soil, making them more effective against pests that live in the ground.

Baits: Many baits used for pests like ants and roaches are placed indoors or under shelters outdoors, so they are usually protected from rain. However, those left exposed could be washed away or diluted by heavy rain.

Termite Treatments: Many modern termite treatments, such as soil treatments around a structure, are designed to bind with the soil, making them resistant to rain once they’ve set.

Gel Pest Controls: These are typically used indoors, so rain is generally not a concern.

Bait Stations: These are protected by a casing and are generally not affected by rain.

What are the worst pests in Tampa Bay?

The Tampa Bay area in Florida has a subtropical climate, which means it can be home to various pests. Some of the most common and problematic pests in the Tampa Bay area include:

Termites: Especially the Eastern Subterranean Termite and the Formosan Termite, which can cause significant structural damage to homes and other wooden structures.

Cockroaches: The Florida woods cockroach, the American cockroach, the German cockroach, and the smoky brown cockroach are all common in the area. They can spread bacteria and allergens.

Mosquitoes: Given the many bodies of water and high humidity, mosquitoes thrive here. They can be a nuisance and also spread diseases such as West Nile virus and Zika.

Ants: Fire ants, carpenter ants, and ghost ants are just a few of the species that can invade homes and yards in Tampa Bay.
